Poa cita, commonly known as Silver Tussock, is a graceful NZ native tussock forming fine, arching clumps of silvery green foliage. Its soft, flowing habit brings movement and lightness to dry, open landscapes, and it pairs beautifully with other high country species. Naturally found throughout lowland to montane grasslands, it offers an authentic Central Otago look while remaining low maintenance and resilient.

Typically reaching around 0.6-0.8m tall and wide, Poa cita grows at a medium rate and thrives in full sun, tolerating partial shade. It prefers free draining soils and is highly tolerant of wind, cold and drought, making it a reliable performer across Queenstown and Central Otago. Its fine texture and pale tones make it ideal for mass planting, gravel gardens, naturalistic designs and ecological restoration.
