Pittosporum eugenoides, commonly known as Lemonwood, is a fast-growing NZ native tree ideal for shelter, revegetation and hedging. Its long, light-green glossy leaves create a fresh, bright backdrop in the landscape, while its highly scented spring flowers attract bees and add seasonal interest. Dense, upright and easily trimmed, it forms one of the most attractive and effective native hedges.

Reaching around 12m tall and 3m wide, Lemonwood thrives in full sun, partial shade or even full shade, and prefers well'drained soils. Evergreen and hardy once established, it can be frost'tender when young, so early protection is beneficial in colder areas. Across Queenstown and Central Otago it performs reliably as a shelterbelt, screen or structural native feature.
