Coprosma crassifolia (mingimingi)
Queenstown Nursery
Coprosma crassifolia (Mingimingi) is a stiffly branched, upright NZ native shrub with small dark-green leaves and a naturally columnar habit, making it ideal for narrow spaces and structured native plantings. In late summer it produces white to pale-yellow berries that attract skinks and birds, adding ecological value to gardens and restoration sites.
Growing to around 4m tall and 2m wide, this hardy shrub thrives in full sun to partial shade and tolerates drought, wind and cold conditions. Its toughness makes it an excellent choice for shelterbelts, revegetation projects, riparian planting and exposed, dry sites across Queenstown and Central Otago. Evergreen and low-maintenance, it provides year-round structure and resilience in challenging landscapes.
Choose Coprosma crassifolia for a durable, wildlife-friendly NZ native shrub that delivers shelter, habitat and dependable performance in tough conditions.
